今日は、2023年2月21日にオーストラリアの移民局より発表された
1．学生ビザ保有者の労働可能な時間が延長
2．卒業生ビザの期間延長
の2点についてご紹介します。
コロナ前には学生ビザの条件の中には「2週間で40時間まで労働可能」という項目がありました。
ただ、コロナの余波でオーストラリアでは甚大な労働力不足に直面し、一時的に学生ビザの労働時間の条件が解除されていました。
また、TAFEや私立のcollegeを通じて技術職2年のVET課程を履修した卒業生たちの場合、従来は1.5年であった卒業生ビザを2年に期間を拡大し、その後は技術職ではない場合に関しても360時間の実習、または経歴証明なしでDiplomaより上の2年以上の学習をする場合には、英語の条件さえ満たすことができれば、時限的な措置としてですが、卒業生ビザの申請が可能に変更されていました。
［学生ビザの勤務時間変更］
・2023年7月1日より学生ビザ保有者の場合、2週で48時間まで労働可能
・既存の学生ビザの勤務時間について条件解除は2023年6月30日まで維持
2023年7月1日より、学生ビザの所有者については、就業制限が再導入され2週間で48時間までに変更されます。オーストラリア政府は学生ビザの所有者がオーストラリアの質の高い教育と資格を取得することに集中することができるように保障するとともに、財政的に自らをサポートしつつ、価値ある実務能力を身に着け、オーストラリアの需要に寄与することができるように、と今回の変更事項を発表しました。
［その他の学生ビザの条件］
・学生ビザ期間中の学業を継続しなければならない
・学生は、出席率（80%以上）を維持しなければならない
・学生は、一定の成績（Termごとに登録した科目のうち50%以上の課程履修）を維持しなければならない

［卒業生ビザの期間延長］
・学士課程 卒業者：変更前 2年 → 変更後 4年（一部の学科に限る）
・修士課程 卒業者：変更前 3年 → 変更後 5年（一部の学科に限る）
・博士課程 卒業者：変更前 4年 → 変更後 6年（すべての専攻）
今回の発表を通じて、オーストラリア移民局では求人難の解決と同時にオーストラリア全地域の企業を支援することで、ポストコロナにおいて国際教育部門を再建するうえで、大きな役割を担うと考えているとのこと。
対象となる分野は大きく分けて、主に、“教育・エンジニアリング・看護・農業・医療・IT”分野であり、該当する専攻の学生たちにとって大きなプラスとなる内容となっています。
